TRY THE WORLD/HOWABOUTWE

Try the World is an awesome subscription service that sends you food from around the world. It even includes info only locals or natives would know, which is just precious. I am saving this little booklet for our Paris trip (ahem, hope you're reading honey;)
I don't have much of a sweet tooth so I will be leaving these around the house for J and giving them away as appropriate.

One country every 2 months, starting with Paris, Toyko, and Rio. Next is Rome apparently!
I got this box for free through HowAboutWe, a service designed to make dates and dating easier and more fun. I love the site because it offers such a great variety of dates and date ideas, including stuff you can experience at home. Like Try the World! They even send out coupon codes every once in a while for $50 off a date. The Try the World box was $47 and I got it for FREE. How amazing is that??

Our first date through HowAboutWe was a drawing date at the Met. It cost $10 for the both of us (with a coupon) and it was so much fun. We drew completely different things, sitting in the Egyptian area. The instructor was from the Art Studio, his name was Jake and he was so professional and nice and encouraging. The Art Studio offers other classes like BYOB painting but J and I haven't been able to set aside time for it sadly!

Susan Sontag on Love

GONE GIRL- GILLIAN FLYNN

GONE GIRL

ok ok, so I am realllllly late. This book was awesome, kept me on my toes. I liked reading it after the characters have been cast, because it let me envision it better. I love that Andie is that girl from the Blurred Lines video. Um, I don't really care for Ben Affleck as Nick. I love that Desi is Neil Patrick Harris, and that Rosamund Pike (HELEN FROM AN EDUCATION!) is Amy. She has that detached crazy eye look about her. Ok that's about all I can say without putting a spoiler label!

SPOILERS:
I love that Amy says Andie looks like a babysitter, not the porn star kind but the kind that actually plays with the kids (more or less verbatim)
I love that the story shows Nick's feelings towards Andie as one note; Nick didn't love Andie, but found solace in her, how he could show her things because he was much older, and they both loved beer and sex. But in the end, he wasn't even that devastated that she was gone. I think this is important because it shows another side of an affair, where there is sex but no connection. There's emotional cheating and physical, I definitely feel that emotional cheating is worst, but they're BOTH really bad :(
Also, Amy is so goddamn crazy I can't even handle it.

Excited about

how appropriate for me and J's trip to Mexico! July, you cannot come any sooner.

My favorite candle

The perfect light scent. Fruity yet not overpowering. Subtle yet sexy. It doesn't smell overwhelmingly of rose which is nice. It's more strawberry smelling to me. Like that teenage lip gloss kind of smell but a little more sophisticated!
